Patience With the Seed

Would you call someone crazy if they put a seed in a pot of soil, poured some water on it, and then 30 seconds later began yelling at the pot for not growing into the flower or vegetable immediately?

How strange and ridiculous would someone look screaming and crying and freaking out that the seed hadn't sprouted right away? I'm sure if you saw someone doing that you'd be inclined to yell out to them, "You fool! Plants don't grow over night! It needs time! Chill out!"

Well that's how things are in our lives. Patience seems like a hard thing to come by these days when we're all so used to instant gratification.

Love, self improvement, cultivating a new skill, learning a new language, finding a job, even baking a cake are all things that take time.

I've laughed at myself and shook my head because I was lamenting over a few things that I've been praying about. Most of what's been on my mind has only surfaced within the past several months, or a year at the most. How can those things just all of a sudden be THERE? Well, they can't.

We all need to realize that once a seed is planted, watered and allowed to sit in the sun, it needs time to grow. Just because you can't see what's going on underneath the surface doesn't mean transformation isn't happening.

What are some things YOU are waiting to happen that you feel frustrated about? Chances are, those things we're so worried about won't come to us overnight.

Patience, faithfulness, discipline, these things will be required as we're waiting for our seed to grow. The best things in our life can't be forced or rushed. You have to wait for them to grow and come to pass.
