Think and Be Fed?

If we were out having a bite to eat and when it came time to order our food I said, "I'm going to think about eating the club sandwich....mmm...yeah that sounds good." but didn't actually eat it, would you think I was a little odd?

You'd probably say, "Jose...um...are you going to eat anything?"  If I said, "No...I'm just going to think about it. Thinking about it sounds amazing...I can just imagine what it tastes like now...mmmmm.."  I'm sure you'd think I've lost my mind.

You can think about eating food all you want but until you make the effort, take the food and actually EAT it...it won't nourish you. Thinking about it may give you a similar sense of satisfaction, but it will never fully benefit you.

The same goes with the things of God and his word. If you don't take the time to actually read, pray and serve...all the inspired thinking in the world won't do a bit of good.

I used to treat the things of God the same way for years  I used to think about all the wonderful things I wanted to do, the ministries I wanted to be a part of...how awesome it would be to give my time to some worthy cause.  But I never actually went out and did it.

I spent so much time daydreaming of all the great plans I saw in my future without investing any effort into making them into reality. I would have great aspiration to spend time with God and I would think about worship and what it meant to me...but it's just not the same as taking part.

Don't be like how I used to be. ;) Taking the time to read the bible, pray and serve takes discipline...and maybe that's why it seems so hard to do it at first. We have to make the time. If we never make the time then we'll never have the time. And if we never have the time then we'll be spiritually malnourished. It's important to take an active part in life...we can't just sit and daydream all day long and never act.

Have a wonderful weekend my Facebook friends!
