We took Timmy, our foster puppy, to a meeting place where a special transport took him a few hundred miles to his new home and family. The hours leading up to that moment took me on an emotional journey that I'm not sure I was prepared for, and it kind of took me by surprise. To understand why, I'm going to take you back to 2011 when my dog Ruckus first entered my life. It was the end of Spring in 2011. I had just come back from an out of town photo shoot that took place in Galveston, Texas. It had been a fun, but kind of draining trip. I planned it so that a few friends of mine would meet me at the beach once I was done with the photo shoot.
